Each show starts off with a animated open like this, followed by Live headline teases from each reporter out in the field. Each newscast will have at least three live shots in it.
Joe Gazin and Melanie Brooks are the main 6 and 10pm
anchors.
This is the first shot normally seen at the beginning of the news
.
Mr. Gazin has been with
KIII TV 32 years.
For several years, channel 3 was a single news anchor show.
scannerhound note - Melanie Brooks is on personal leave. FMLA according to the station.
This is called a quad shot. It allows the anchor(s) to interact with the reporters while in the field or in the studio.
Scannerhound note - The reporter seen on the quad is Mr. Michael Gibson.
Mr. Gibson and his family moved to
Corpus Christi for the warmer climate. Mr. Gibson is a 20 year TV news veteran.

This is a shot from the other side of the set during the 5pm
newscast.
"Ask the Experts" is a segment that runs during the 5pm news. This segment was about being prepared for a hurricane.
Ask The Experts - Each day a new topic is promoted. During the 5pm news, a group of people knowledgeable about that topic are brought in to the newsroom to answer the viewer's questions.
The newsroom is about the size of a
Walgreens or a medium sized grocery store. It is a very nice room, but rarely seen on TV. This shot is also from the 5pm newscast. The entire station is about the size of a
Sears.
This is another use for the quad. Again, it allows the anchors and reporters to interact.

This is the same as above, only at a different angel.
Tom Harris worked at
KAUZ TV Wichita Falls, TX in 1990. He is now at
KVUE TV in Austin, TX

Weather is done the same way as all or most stations. Steve Jacobs was recently hired to be the Chief Meteorologist of KIII TV-3

This is one of several
outdoor cameras used.
This one is 200 feet high on the station's STL tower.

This a three shot with sports. This camera shot normally tracks left untill it goes to the single shot seen below.

This is a single shot of Sports Director Dan McReynolds. This is another use for the quad.
